How to assign multiple ips in a single package.

Hi All,

We have a package running with single virtual ip address. Now we have requiremnet that we need to assing another 6 V'ips in the same package. Please let me know what steps need to follow for this requirement.

What's your Serviceguard version? (Run "cmversion" if you're not sure.)

If the version is A.11.18 or A.11.19, is the package configuration in "modular" or "legacy" format?

Do the new IP addresses belong to the same network segment as the existing ones? If they belong to a different segment, you may have to arrange connections to that segment first. (New NICs + cabling, or some VLAN configuration at the very least.)

The basic procedure is like this:

1.) Use cmgetconf to get an up-to-date version of the package configuration ASCII file.

2.) Halt the package.

3.) Add new IP entries to the package configuration file (modular format) or to the package control script (legacy format). Review the package configuration file to make sure it makes sense in the new situation.

4.) Run cmapplyconf on the package configuration file (if you had to modify it). If your package configuration is in legacy format, make sure the updated package control script is installed to all nodes of the cluster.

5.) Restart the package.

6.) Test connectivity. Then failover the package to another node, verify that the failover is successful and then test connectivity again.
