How to check newly configured disk?

I got a IBM Blade server. The disk configuration is like this

2 disk with mirror -> /dev/sda
3 disk on RAID 5

I guess the 3 disk on RAID 5 should form a PV called /dev/sdb, but when I try to execute fdisk, the "unable to open /dev/sdb" is returned. It seems the OS is not recognizing the new disk array. Please kindly advise how to check the newly configured disk. Thanks a lot

Shalom,

You don't guess, you test.

dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/null bs=1024 count=100000

fdisk -l to see what devices are available.
