I am using linux mail server with sendmail 8.9 I want to customise the error message given on the client machine while sending to wrong user.
I am getting this message.
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'rot@hclinsys.com'. Subject 'test', Account: ' Mail', Server: '151.2.1.11', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 5.3.0...Please update your address book for new email ids.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
while I want only this line to come in message
not the other details given by system.
"Please update your address book for the new email ids."
Pls help me out It is very much needed.
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks & Regards

Solution
Shalom,
If the response is in the /etc/mail/access file you can have a response right after the 553 errror that is as verboase as you feel you need.

Re: HOW to Customise the system error message.
If /etc/mail/access file is Ok then ,
To fix this problem:
Open Outlook Express, and click Tools
Then click on Accounts
Then click on your connection and click Properties
Then click Advanced
On this screen remove the checks from the boxes This server requires a secure connection for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).
Regards,
Asif Sharif

Re: HOW to Customise the system error message.
Dear
That is fine but I have restricted some users in access file only and I want that the message comes to them should come only text what I have entered in the access file
It should not contain the default values added by system either from client or from server.
