how to mount boot.b for revise?

I can mount boot.img by
mount -o loop -t msdos boot.img .mnt

but i can not mount boot.b,
could you tell me the tips?

cp -dp /boot/boot.b /mnt

not yet, only create one new file in /mnt, but i want to edit the boot file inside.
