HP dc7700p linux ide drivers.

I have a Gentoo linux box with a 2.4.26 kernel(which i can't upgrade to 2.6 because of another software patches that working only with this kernel) and i do not know how to set DMA for disks.
When i try :
hdparm -d1 /dev/hda
i receive the error
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permited.
I think that the problem is that my kernel not know about hp dc7700 Ide Disk.

lscpi -v | grep ide
IDE interface: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 2996 (rev 02)
IDE interface: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 2820 (rev 02)

hdparm -tT /dev/hda
Timing buffered disk reads: 14M in 3.44 seconds = 4.07 MB/sec

What can i do ?
Please help.

Shalom,

Get a system that supports Linux. HP specifically designed this system to work only with Windows.

Re: HP dc7700p linux ide drivers.

There are workarounds.

They were so difficult our department refused to support the hardware internally.

Note also that Red Hat Support does not cover systems that are not certified.

Using this system is a bad idea, even if you force it to work.
