HP StorageWorks Q200 FC HBA and EVA3000

Hello
Did anyone try to connect "HP StorageWorks Q200 FC HBA" to HP EVA3000. HP says it can only be used to connect the MSA1000 storage array (http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/a7523a/index.html)
OS is Red Hat AS 3.
Did someone make it work with EVA?
Thanks

If its not the right kind of card, you are fighting an impossible battle.

This appears to be a standard 2 Gb/s fiber card that should work with any fiber switch.

That is the link for the Red Hat 3.x drivers.

You should be able to install the drivers and connect to a fiber switch. The card may only work with certain switches. If the EVA only takes 1 Gb/s connections, then you either need a converter or are out of luck.

Re: HP StorageWorks Q200 FC HBA and EVA3000

Looks like it shares the device drives with the other Qlogic adapters for some operating systems (haven't looked into the details), so there is a change that you can get a working, while not supported, configuration.

Steven,
the EVA can do 1 and 2 GigaBit/s since a long time - the first generation models with early firmware were restricted to 1 GBit at introduction, but a software update lifted it.

Re: HP StorageWorks Q200 FC HBA and EVA3000

Hello
It is not logical to me that HBA can be made just for particular storage. Every FC HBA is connected to FC switch (in my case it is 2Gb switch) which handles all other FC objects (other hosts, storages etc.). It can only be a problem in device driver (which can be caused by HP) or formware. If something is not supported, it does not mean that it can not work. This FC HBA is not supported for HP Secure path, but in this case it is not a problem. Maybe someone has more informations about this FC HBA.
