I have two Qlogic card , but any of that is not working after some, then I need to restart the serve

Hi All,

We are having one server "HP ProLiant DL 380 G6" running RHEL 11.0

There are two Qlogic HBA cards are connected (each with two HBA ports) and working in default drivers available in RHEL 11.0

I am using this server as Backup media server in HP Data Protector Backup environment.

One port (port1) in each HBA card have been used, So one port (port1) in each HBA card have been connected with fabric switch and in other end of fabric switch we have connected Tape library.

Our Tape library is having eight tape drives.

We have assigned those eight tape drives to port1 of each HBA cards.

So I am able to assign the backup jobs through two ports available in two different HBA cards.

It is working fine.

My Issue:

But any one of the HBA cards is not working at some times, so then I have to restart the server to resolve this issue, after some time the same issue happens.

My Questions:

1)Will it be resolved if we are installing hp-fc-enablement kit?

2)Or how to solve this issue?

The problem is with any of the HBAs? Is the host direct attached via FC to the library? Is this supported by your library?

Have you verified the san switch port statistics?

Probably you should update anyway your driver.

Check your zoning configuration.

Re: I have two Qlogic card , but any of that is not working after some, then I need to restart the serve

Hi Ivan,

We have connected following HBA cards with my server.

#lspci

07:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
07:00.1 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
0a:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
0a:00.1 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)

And the following drivers have been taken:

#more /etc/modprobe.conf

alias scsi_hostadapter cciss
alias scsi_hostadapter1 ata_piix
alias scsi_hostadapter2 qla2xxx
alias scsi_hostadapter3 usb-storage

My Questions:

1)Where I can download the latest drvers from?

2)How to install new driver?

Shalom,

RHEL 11.0? Version 6 is scheduled to come out later this year.

If you mean Fedora Core 11, then you have a problem. If it was really RHEL, then you could download PSP, Proliant Server Pack and get updated drivers, that install with rpm.

FC is not supported on this hardware. So you may be able to find red hat drivers that work, you may not.

Current version of PSP is 8.40, with 8.41 expected shortly to support RHEL 5.5

If you are using fedora, but you really wanted to use Red Hat 4 / 5, then a better fit would have been to use CentOS.
