Hi, i wish to add some more space in /rain/scratch. can you please advice me how to that?...

Hi srinivassin,

what distro (linux) are you using ?

If your distro has lvm support, that's the best way.

If your distro doesn't have lvm support

you may try md (multiple devices) and make a stripe device or,

you may repartion your entire disk dedicating more space to /raid/scratch or,

you may make one (the largest one) of your directories a mounting point, create a new partion on a new disk (or repartion an old one transforming it into 2 partitions) and mounting the new partion on that mount point.

Don't forget to make a backup copy of your data before any way you decide to go.
