following filesystems need to built with the new size...

/db2/db2inst1 2GB
/db2/ICMNLSDB/ 8.75GB
/db2/ICMNLSDB/log_dir 1.5GB
/db2/ICMNLSDB/log_archive 3GB
/db2/RMDB 2.7GB
/db2/RMDB/log_dir 450MB
/db2/RMDB/log_archive 900MB
/backup 4GB

How would i go about to extend these new sizes for the existing filesystem using fdisk. please advise

Thanks

Joe

Re: increase fdisk filesystems

Because all partitions are used, you cannot resize a partition without affect other partitions. You must backup your data, destroy and recreate the partitions and restore the data.

If size changes in the future may be required again, I suggest you the use of LVM.

Also, I see too many independen disks. Are you protecting your data using a RAID (hardware RAID). You should consider using RAID.

Re: increase fdisk filesystems

Shalom,

You use fdisk to increase the size of a filesystem, if there is space on the disk.

I don't see any space.

If you have space you then use OS tools to expand the filesystem because fdisk only expands the partition.

ext2online is the command to expand a filesystem without umounting it.

You have to add new disks first

Does that mean if i have the space then i can just extend it using extonline? i tght that was only suppose to be available in AS4. we run AS 3

Thanks

No in your case.
Yes if your linux uses LVM.
In short, you should boot rescue Linux CD with Gparted or Norton Partition Magic and play with partitions sizes.

Another way it's just backup data, delete partitions and create them again with new sizes.

Re: increase fdisk filesystems

this is a article I read today http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_resizing_ext3_partitions .
In fact, nothing new - Gparted | PartitionMagic are more flexible, IMHO.
