Install red hat 8.0 to Proliant ML310 ATA Raid 0 ?

I have proliant ML310 ATA100 with 2 40 GB seagate drive.

From F8 Megaraid tools I've configured to Raid 1 array and it seem ok.

But when try to install red hat 8.0 the red hat found 2 physical drive sepeately instead of just 1 drive ( mirror set up).

Anyone please help.
Thank you.

With ATA RAID, what you are describing usually points to a driver failure.

Unfortunately, the online HP data that I could find concerning the ATA RAID controller in the ML310 is sadly lacking.

Doing some more research, it appears that the module 'megaide.o' is required, and they appear to have an RPM for a RH7.3 system, but not 8.

They also let go of the fact that it's an LSI Logics IDE Raid controller. Unfortunately, LSI also only have RH7.3 drivers available.

I don't think you are going to have much luck getting that controller to work as a RAID controller under Linux until they release a driver for you.

Sorry..

Re: Install red hat 8.0 to Proliant ML310 ATA Raid 0 ?

I have the same problem.

I can install RH 8.0 on COMPAQ DL-320G2 with a hardware raid 1 with driver disk provided by HP/COMPAQ (web site) without any problems.

Now, I need to upgrade the kernel and customize it...

We need a LSI MegaRAID ATA controller driver for any 2.4.X kernel. (A standard patch for 2.4.X kernels with driver source code preferred)

I contact to LSI support team and they forward to COMPAQ support.

If COMPAQ/HP presumes of 100% hardware compatibility with linux and linux support, must to resolve this incident as soon as possible.

This problematic affects to all Proliant models that includes a ATA-RAID controller
