Installing Autoloader 40x6 on a DL380G3 with Red Hat 7.3
How do you get RedHat 7.3 to recognise the autoloader device. Tapeware recognises the tape drive on SCSI ID 5 but neither system BIOS nor the OS seem to detect the presenece of the Autoloader on SCSI ID 7.

cdrecord - not installed.
RE: the SCSI ID, I'd previosuly thought about that and have tried it on a different ID's 3,4,8,10,12 all to no avail.
The device is plugged into the external VHDCI-SCSI which in trun is connected to the RAID controller. I think I've read elsewhere on these forums that Tape devices shoudn't/cannot be connected to SmartArray RAID controllers.
I guess that means buying a new PCI controller; can anyone confirm?
I'm sure this will present new problems but ho hum.

Re: Installing Autoloader 40x6 on a DL380G3 with Red Hat 7.3
Yea, tape drives on cciss-based controllers is usually unhappy.
The only way I've seen it work if it's a hot-swap..
Although the documentation doesn't explicitly say that it wont work, but ... I've never got it to work ;)
But yes. I'd suggest a separate controller.
Once it's installed, you should hopefully have the BIOS detect it.
After that, 'mtx' is your friend.

One long-haired git at your service...
