IPMI interface for fencing - RH fence agent for the Superdome blades -
Hi,
We are configuring a RedHat Linux cluster between 2 Superdome X Blades. We have been advised that we will require an IPMI interface for fencing . Is there a specific RH fence agent for the Superdome blades ?, Or do we use the native one?
Appreciate any input.
Kind Regards
Andrew Rycroft

Re: IPMI interface for fencing - RH fence agent for the Superdome blades -
Basically, any method or agent which can cutt off the shared storage access from a failed node would be a valid choice for fencing. A failed node would get removed from access to shared storage either by doing hard fencing which is nothing but powering off the node or by doing a soft fencing which normally triggers cut off to storage device only but system remains on. There is "fence_hpblade" available for RHEL6.4 and later versions [https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html-single/Fence_Configuration_Guide/index.html#tb-software-fence-hpblade-CA]
A good introduction to fencing is here [https://access.redhat.com/solutions/15575]
