I am trying to install the admin tools from the Prolient Support Pack (8.6) using the HP Smart Update Manager (first time I have used these so I may be missing something simple).
I have a HP DL380 G6 and I have install the lastest release of Red Hat Server 5.5 x86_64.
I am not able to install either:
1) cpq_cciss-3.6.26-5.rhel5.x86_64.rpm
2) mptlinux-4.00.13.07-5.rhel5.x86_64.rpm
When installing, they both say that the specific kernal that I am running is not supported 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5 (see attached log file)
Looking at the list of supported kernals it looks like 2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 is the last supported kernal.
Question: Am I missing something simple (newer verions of the Support Pack, etc) or am I just out of luck?

Re: Kernal support problems installing some parts of the Prolient Support Pack
Looks like 2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 came out on 7/1/2010

Re: Kernal support problems installing some parts of the Prolient Support Pack
In the case of disk controller drivers, "not supported" might also mean "not needed anymore".
Perhaps the kernel version 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5 already includes an equivalent or newer version of the cpq_cciss and mptlinux drivers, so installing those RPMs would be unnecessary.
RedHat sometimes includes newer driver versions to its kernel updates, to remove the requirement to install extra driver packages for popular hardware models.
