LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
Hi there,
iam currently running SUSE8.0 on my LH4R and ask me if there is a Health-Agents Package available as for the Proliance Servers?
Or is there a other way to get the following realized:
1. At Power fault my USV starts, but only for 15mins. The Server is connected via Serial Cable to the USV. How to securely shutdown Server when USV Time has come?
2. How to get to the Eventlog which is displayed at the Fontpanel?
Any hints would be fine.
Kind regards,
Frank

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
By 'USV', I take it to mean an uninteruptable power supply (UPS) ?
If yes, then it should have come with some monitoring software. If it didn't, go to the manufacturer's web-page, and they should have some software available for download (or sale).
Whilst I'm sure there are plenty of packages (opensource) available which will do this sort of function, it's usually best to go with the software designed for the device.
As for accessing the EventLog of an LH series of NetServer, I've not been able to find any in my search for our LH3.
Maybe someone else knows of some?
I don't think the Compaq based Health agents can talk to the HP NetServer Event log, and I haven't personally tried (don't have a 'spare' machine of that size to 'play' with).

One long-haired git at your service...

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
i posted my above question also in the "netserver" forum and already go a answer which helps me and not ;-)
the health-agents are available for the LH4 series - i think also for LH3 - but only for suse 7.2/7.3. i tried to follow the installation instructions, got snmp deamon installed, but hag now on mmcdev kernel module.
this module isnt part of the standard suse distro and i can't compile it myself for the newer kernel.
so i got an answer, but i stuck because the only software which is available is to old. thats a little bit frustrating.
regards,
frank

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
You post this on the suse lists? Somebody there will escalate it back to HP.
