LH4r and Redhat 7.3
I am having a terrible time installing RH7.3 on my HP LH4r. First of all when I get to the section to configure the network interfaces it shows 4 interfaces when there are only 2 cards in the machine. Then when I configure the first 2 eth0 and eth1 upon rebooting when it gets to bringing up eth0 and eth1 it timesout. I went to Redhat and checked the compatability and those cards are on the list. They are just intel pro 100 branded by HP I think? Anyway, if someone can help shed some light I would be greatful.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,
Tom

Re: LH4r and Redhat 7.3
Tom
Are you defining both cards on the same subnet ?
What happens if you try to configure eth1 on the fly ?

Re: LH4r and Redhat 7.3
The two ethernet cards need to be on different networks.
I don't think you will have a happy networking environment trying to make eth0=192.168.0.10 and eth1=192.168.0.11
If the cards are really Intel cards, they will be auto detected by Red Hat without issue. If they are not, as I suspect, you need to get proper red hat drivers for them.
You are in the right place for that, either itrc.hp.com or software.hp.com
Try this and see if you get an error.
ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.10 netmask(or mask) 255.255.255.0 up
ifconfig eth1 10.1.10.99 netmaks 255.255.0.0 up
Make sure this doesn't conflict with your network and so long as they aren't the same network, both cards should stay up and be able to ping other boxes in your network if you choose real numbers instead of the ones I picked.
to bring them down
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth1 down
