LINUX - DP5 AGENT

I am trying out DataProtector 5. It is running on an HP-UX system running 11i. I am trying to push out the client software to a RedHat9 system from the HP-UX cell manager. During the install it communicated with the RH9 system OK, then it prompts me for an ID and password. I enter 'root' and 'password' and it keeps coming back as invalid. I know the passwds are good. Looks like the push process and the RH9 system does not like logging in as 'root' for some reason. Has anyone had this type of problem before? not sure whats up here.

Re: LINUX - DP5 AGENT

Robert,

We get this problem all the time and, to be honest, find it quicker to just install the client manually. Check out this link and the comment from our resident Data Protector co-genius Kurt

Re: LINUX - DP5 AGENT

This is probably due to the fact that you can not login remote as root this is good !

to by-pass this have a look at the man about the files in /etc/security and /etc/inittab

But Mark link and explaination seem's the best way to go and releatively simple.

the advantage is also that you dont make your system less secure.
