Linux on compaq armada m700

I`m using compaq m700(pIII-850,ram 256,hdd 40gb toshiba,cdrw-dvd matshita ujd710) with Linux Fedora Core 3.
If i turn on acpi support then Linux freezes after some time and even system clock freezes.
Anyone got some luck with this laptop model?

I'd used mine on Linux, NetBSD and Solaris without greater problems, but I always kept a safe distance from acpi.

There's a few webpages about linux on the m700 but none of the authors ran a 2.6.x kernel :/

I`ve already checked all avaiable web\nntp\mail resources.
FC2\FC3 freezes when i turn on acpi option.
FreeBSD 5.3 stable works well (with apm) untill i add snd_maestro support.If i add it FreeBSD starts to freeze.I thought may be anyone tried acpi with this laptop+FC
In case of usage acpi FreeBSD kernel screams with somthing alike:
dev usb0 irq storm throttled...

Yeah.I saw some succesfull tries of usage FreeBSD on this laptop model.
All of them recommended to find the latest bios and .asl resourse file and recompile .asl

hehe - I used mine on freebsd 4.7 in the beginning.

there should be no problem if You put the snd_maestro_load=YES right into /boot/loader.conf.

ah, and I never updated the bios due to laziness. Later I had some issues with the hard disk and switched the OS in the course.
