Secure path on SUSE Linux 8 SP 3 2.4.21

Hi!

According to the documentation, it is almost a requirement to run the kernel named "2.4.21-169". But the installation script prompts You with a question to continue anyway if You don't have that patch-level kernel (in our case we have kernel 2.4.21-138). So, my question is: If we continue and install secure path on 2.4.21-138, is that SUPPORTED FROM HP OR NOT ?

Re: Secure path on SUSE Linux 8 SP 3 2.4.21

Hello,

I have the same problem, but I can't seem to finde the kernel 2.4.21-169. Other kernels that are supported with secure path 3.0C sp1 are 2.4.21-251 or 2.4.21-261, but I can't find this kernels either.
Is there anyone that knows where to find one of these kernel versions?

Hi,

the kernels are available at the Suse support portal (portal.suse.com).
You need a active maintenance contract and a login there. After login go to Patch Support Database - Versions/Products - SLES 8 for x86.
There you can find all released patches, e.g.

http://sdb.suse.de/download/i386/update/SuSE-SLES/8/rpm/i586/k_smp-2.4.21-261.i586.rpm
http://sdb.suse.de/download/i386/update/SuSE-SLES/8/rpm/i586/k_smp-2.4.21-251.i586.rpm
http://sdb.suse.de/download/i386/update/SuSE-SLES/8/rpm/i586/k_smp-2.4.21-169.i586.rpm

Hope this helps.
