Linux RedHat 4 - samba access

Hi

I am trying to get samba to work on a new server, but I just cannot get it to work. I have set up the link in the smb.conf file and added the user to the smbpasswd file. I have stopped the samba services to which I get the message:- SMB and NMB [FAILED], when I start the services I get that the service start OK, but when I get for the daemons nothing is running.

Is there anything that I have missed.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Debbie

You may need to post more detailed information for others to see the problem. What's the error messages in /var/log/samba? Your smb.conf file, etc.

Re: Linux RedHat 4 - samba access

Shalom Debbie,

Cringe!!!

Maybe the gui system-config-authentication might help here. It generates a Samba file if used to integrate the system into a network.

If that is not appropriate, please state the steps you have taken in detail.
