Why kernal does not see new installed RAM

I have just installed 2 more RAM and my server is not showing the newly installed RAM.

I was able to login to one of the server and free -t shows the following..

total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3596784 775896 2820888 1552 59620 249920
-/+ buffers/cache: 466356 3130428
Swap: 8388400 0 8388400
Total: 11985184 775896 11209288
What happened to my other 2 RAM that I have just installed.

Points will be assigned.

Re: Why kernal does not see new installed RAM

Shalom,

uname -a

My crystal ball says that you had 4 GB of RAM in the system anyway and need to load the hugemen kernel to recognize any more.

I'm assuming of course your BIOS recognized the RAM and you noted that.

Try installing or switching to the hugemen kernel.
