mondoarchive hang at "Assembling dependency files step

I tried to run the mondo archive command to backup my system, but somehow it hang at the assembling dependency files and could not go further. I let it run overnight since I thought probably I had a lot files to assembly, but it still stay at that point by the next day. I could not find anything wrong in the mondo-archive.log. This is the last line in my mondo-archive.log:
Adding the following keyboard mapping tables: br-latin1-us.map.gz qwerty-layout.inc compose.inc mac-qwerty-layout.inc linux-with-two-alt-keys.inc linux-keys-bare.inc mac-linux-keys-bare.inc Done.
Assembling dependency files...............................................

And it stayed there forever. Please help.

Re: mondoarchive hang at "Assembling dependency files step

Shalom,

uname -a

It would be helpful to know your linux distribution.

Also the hardware is a actor in this.

To help you, I would need a lot more information than this.

Make sure there is sufficient space and good permissions on the mount point you are writing the archive to.

Alternative software:

Costs money.

Re: mondoarchive hang at "Assembling dependency files step

# uname -a
Linux fwcl7 2.4.21-9.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Jan 8 17:08:56 EST 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I had no problem to run the same command 2 months ago as root id. So I don't think I have permission problem. I wonder why it can not go further and there is no error message. Thanks.

Re: mondoarchive hang at "Assembling dependency files step

Shalom again,

Something has changed if it worked on THIS system before and now does not.

The logs are providing you no information.

I would not "think" permissions are not a problem. I would check where you are writing the image with a terminal session and try and touch a few files.
