Monitor disk usage within RHAS 3.0

Hello to all Linux experts,

I know that you can use iostat, mpstat, and etc. within Redhat Linux to monitor disk I/O usage. Does anyone know of any freeware or 30-days free-trail to a software package that's easy to use, and more of an user friendly? Would be nice if this software has graphical charts as well. I think this would help greatly for newbie like my self.

Thank you in advance.

Jorge:

You might want to look at a package named gkrellm. It provides a number of system monitors and runs on a single process. Very good graphical display.

Jess I myself use gkrellm and it's really greate, but never play with it much. Don't you know if there is possibility of back tracking, I mean what was the CPU usage day ago? Is it possible with gkrellm?

George - How easy is it to use nagios? Is this more like freeware utility? Where can I get it?

Thanks!!

nagios.org - there are client daemons for unix and windows as well as plugins available to check system resources and send an alert when a threshold is exceeded.
