I am trying to get my RH 5.3 workstation onto my network and I beleive all my files are correct and my connection cable is hot. When I go to boot it gives me an error message at login stating can't open display. I can go into single user mode but I am not sure where to look for info. Are there any logs that would indicate which file or parameter is not correct?

Probably you should run system-config-display to reconfigure your X server.

Have a look at the following file see if you can figure out some more

/var/log/boot.log
/var/log/messages
/var/log/secure
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

and also have a look in

# dmesg

If this does not help you out then post here,
maybe some one can help
