Re: omni 4150 powers up but no screen

Hello Derrick,

never as in "never", i.e. does it show the usual BIOS stuff (logos, pre-boot messages) and fails to start the OS or does is already fail to display these.

Also could you give some more information on the operating system you try to use?

Greetings, Martin

Hi Martin

Yes the lap top doesn't ever get to the logo screen or pre boot messages ocasionally it will get to checking the 3 1/2 or cdrom but never any farther from there. the OS was windows 2000 and it was working fine was getting ready to install linux but i never got that far. Went to turn it on and just got nothing

Re: omni 4150 powers up but no screen

Hello Derrick,

the description you give does point into the direction of a HW problem rather than a SW problem. This could either mean the screen or the graphics card in the Notebook are gone. To narrow this down further you might want to connect an external monitor to the VGA port of the Notebook and see if this displays anything.

Re: omni 4150 powers up but no screen

This seems that you have problem with the vga or the monitor.Pls connect a Monitor to your Laptop & Use the combination of Function&f3 or Function& F5 to get the display on the monitor if u r able to c the display then you have problem with the TFT screen or else the video card in the Laptop.

Re: omni 4150 powers up but no screen

Hi,I've had exactly the same problem running win2k on an Omnibook 4150.I think the problem lies in the way win2k shutsdown the laptop (i.e. it doesn't do it quite right). The result is; when you power on the next time, you get the "Omnibook" logo coming on (you should also see the screen backlight come on), but nothing else happens. The solution is to press and *hold* the blue power button until you hear the Omnibook power off (HD spins down), and then power it back up again immediately (if you leave it too long before powering back up, you may get back into the same state as before). This *should* get you up and running again.Incidentally, from observations, the problem seems to be worse when you power up on battery power instead of mains power. Also, it *appears* that Win2k Service Pack 4 reduces the incidents of this strange failure (but doesn't erradicate it!)...HTH.Regards,A.
