Pb with wireless card intel 5300 on SLED 11 laptops EliteBook 8530W
HP EliteBook 8530W,lasted BIOS (68PDV F12 06/08/2010). Wireless card intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN, device enabled in BIOS setup (LED Light is illuminated at boot). Laptop under OS Novell SLED 11 SP1 x86_64 with lasted patches, kernel 2.6.32.24-0.2.
-----
No problem with ethernet card (static IP address). The other card (wireless) is detected and is driver iwlagn loaded:
iwlagn: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link AGN driver for Linux, 1.3.27kds. Firmware iwl5000-ucode-8.24.2.12-2.1.45 is properly installed.
I can see this card with iwconfig wlan0. But when i try to configure it with Yast (traditional method) or with NetworkManager, nothing. Unable to detect wifi networks. So, when i try to debug with hands:
iwlist wlan0 scan
wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down
ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132
I also try to create file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlagn.conf, with the line:
options iwlagn disable_hw_scan=1, discharge & reload iwlagn, but nothing more.
Reading forums, people talking about downgrading package iwlagn, but there is not the sled 11sp1 (Yast online update don't find it).
Of course, i also checked my BIOS. Built-in device options -> Wireless button state = enabled, Embedded wlan device= enabled, Lan/wan switching = enabled
I created /etc/modeprobe.d/50-iwlagn.conf, discharged/reloaded driver, so 802.11n is disabeld. With rfkill list all , i can see:
0: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
If i try rfkill unblock 2 or rfkill unblock wifi, i always see :
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
Thanks for your help.
