pc speaker volume setting for console, vi, mail

How can I set or disable the pc speaker volume while working in runlevel 3(no X) on RHL 8.0?
Dell Inspiron 8200 notebook beeps loudly at any faults in the console, vi or mail applications.

Hi,

to diable the beep put

set bell-style none

in your ~/.inputrc file or in /etc/inputrc

That sould do it :)
