Re: problem with installation

Hi Sunny,
What did u do exactly?
if you reinstalled suse 11, did you create the partitions at the install time.
if you did so this means the installer was unable to add appropriate entries to your fstab.
I guess this happens if you use existing partitions without reformatting them.

at the $ prompt try to check what are the fstab entries you have there also "df" out put.
let me know the status.

Good Luck..!

Re: problem with installation

Hi Sunny,
This means you have no mounted filesystem. If you were able to reinstall the system again i dont know how this happen.
1) Were you able to reinstall suse recently?(yesterday/day before yesterday/2days back????)

if so how did you instlled it?

2)Is your windows OS working now?

Re: problem with installation

Hi sunny,
i assume that you rebooted system after the installation.
If your fstab is no there of course you will be end up with a command prompt because the kernel has completed the initial phase and need to mount the file system to continue the process.
I dont know how or why it didnt create fstab.
I suggest you to do a reformat all the partitions with different file system and try out the same.

Re: problem with installation

Hi Sunny,
Wel, Its not easy to explain what u asking because i cant exactly remember the installer screens but ill try.
1) During the installation it asks on what partition you want to install suse.
2) Then it ask if u want to follow the default file system layout or a custom layout
3) There you select custom layout and create your own fs structure. and this point you can select if its to be on riserfs or ext3.
4)use ext3 and proceed.

if i have time ill upload some screens.
