PSP 8.60 for redhat on oracle Enterprise Linux

Hi all,

It seems that Hp have not released a PSP 8.60 for OEL. So, can I install PSP for RHEL on OEL v5 servers ?

Shalom,

You can install the rpms individually on OEL. However just as with CentOS there is no guarantee of success.

PSP itself is one of the very few products that is RHEL specific. The overall install script can be tricked by changing /etc/redhat-release

Your mileage may vary. You can give it a try but I would not expect the reliability and integration you get running these tools on Red Hat.

I typically only install the hp-health and hp-snmp-agents RPMs on OEL 5.x

Current versions are below and work fine.

hp-snmp-agents-8.6.0.18-17 (x86_64) hp-health-8.6.0.24-25 (x86_64)

On the Installation Instructions, I can read :

Installation:
Certain HP ProLiant servers will support only x86_64 of this ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) due to an industry-wide issue outlined in HP Customer Advisory titled, "Asianux 3 (x86), CentOS 5 (x86), and Oracle Linux 5 (x86) - Linux May Panic During Installation or Boot on HP ProLiant G7-Series Server Configured with an AMD Opteron 6000-Series Processor". The HP ProLiant servers that support only x86_64 of this PSP are the HP ProLiant BL465c G7, HP ProLiant BL685c G7, HP ProLiant DL385 G7 and HP ProLiant DL585 G7. No x86 support of PSP v8.60 for OEL 5.5 is available for these servers.

And we have HP DL 380 G7 with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz

Can I apply this PSP for my configuration ?
