qlogic fibre offline

Hi,

I'm having a system with 2 qlogic fibercards
installed. (type : QLA2340)

less /proc/scsi/qla2300/1
Host adapter:loop state=

less /proc/scsi/qla2300/2
Host adapter:loop state=

How can I put one fibercard off-line commandline ?

Tx

Re: qlogic fibre offline

Shalom,

I know of no OS utility that does that.

Depending on your server provider, they may provide a gui utility that lets you configure or unconfigure qlogic cards.

Last resort is qlogic's website.

Knowing the server maker would be helpful in this regard.

Re: qlogic fibre offline

You might want to take a look at the QLogic "SANsurfer" utility whether it contains that functionality. Else, you could disable the Fibre Channel switch port.

Re: qlogic fibre offline

You can remove its module with rmmod.
Also, there is a file under /etc called modules.conf. you can comment the line that belongs to you FC and reboot the servers. As soon as your server coming up, that FC will not be operational.

Re: qlogic fibre offline

why would you want to put them offline?
anyway, afaik, each card needs a driver, so if you have 2 fc's you'll have the modules loaded 2 times. to disable one of them, unload the corresponding module.
