"refused connect from" -- messages in the log for NIS clients.
Hi,
We have recently added AIX servers as clients to the NIS hosted on Linux RHEL AS3 server.
I am seeing the following messages in the logs:
Mar 15 15:37:22 bangapps ypserv[869]: refused connect from 172.22.43.41:34216 to procedure ypproc_match (bangnis1,hosts.byname;-4)
Mar 15 15:38:27 bangapps ypserv[869]: refused connect from 172.22.43.23:714 to procedure ypproc_first (bangnis1,protocols.bynumber;-4)
Mar 15 15:38:42 bangapps ypserv[869]: refused connect from 172.22.43.24:794 to procedure ypproc_first (bangnis1,services.byname;-4)
Mar 15 15:39:15 bangapps kernel: svc: unknown version (4)
Mar 15 15:39:55 bangapps ypserv[869]: refused connect from 172.22.43.49:970 to procedure ypproc_all (bangnis1,services.byname;-4)
Mar 15 15:40:26 bangapps ypserv[869]: refused connect from 172.22.43.41:34216 to procedure ypproc_match (bangnis1,hosts.byname;-4)
The IP addresses listed in the logs are that of AIX servers. Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,
-GnanaShekar-

Please try changing the ypserv.conf file.
Modify the "security" entry field (set to "port" by default) and replace it with "none"
