Redhat 6.2 SNMP, so snmpwalk from other Machine

Hello,

on Redhat 6.2 the snmpd is running, but OpenView is not able to get information about this machine via SNMP. Then I?ve tried to look with snmpwalk from other Machines to the Redhat-Box, but with no success.

Are there special things to configure if I want to access simple SNMP-Data (For example MIB2) on a Redhat 6.2 ????

best regards
Hermann

Re: Redhat 6.2 SNMP, so snmpwalk from other Machine

Hi,

I have a problem too with my snmpd process. It is running, and when querying it using 'snmpwalk localhost public' from the very same host, it shows about 20 lines of output, and then ...

My snmpd process then starts consuming lots of resource w/o really doing anything.

I'm looking for the reason. I'll keep in touch.

Bye,
Rik.

Re: Redhat 6.2 SNMP, so snmpwalk from other Machine

Hello all,

I am using NNM 6.2 to monitor RedHat Linux 7.0. NNM can collect system description and OID from Linux, but it cannot monitor Linus's interface utilization.

Any idea or suggestion is appreciated. Please help. :)

Re: Redhat 6.2 SNMP, so snmpwalk from other Machine

Hello,

I checked the Redhat Linux servers recently. Although I am sure that the RPM package (ucd-snmp)is installed on RedHat servers, I still cannot collect interface utilization information from the servers by using NNM.

I asked HP for help. The HP support staff requested me to get the name and version of SNMP agent. But what command and file can help me to get it? Please help. :(
