Redhat 7.1 - rpcd daemon?

Attempting to managing a Linux Redhat 7.1 node with HP OpenView ITO (5.37 + server patch PHSS_24134) on a HP-UX 11.0 management server.

Attempted to distribute the ITO agent software using both the standard & manual methods. Received error during the prerequite phase: "glibc 2.1 detected" - "unknown Linux platform". But the Redhat 7.1 box has glibc 2.2.2 & Kernel 2.4.2.

rpcd daemon (RPCD version DCE 1.1) crashes with segmentation fault (manually checked by entering "rpcd -f" in a terminal). HP supports says that version is for Redhat 5.x & need 1.2 or better. HP did not currently have access to a newer version which supports Redhat 7.1.

I searched but could not find a newer rpcd daemon for Redhat 7.1. Can anyone tell me if one exists and, if so, where I can download a newer version of rpcd daemon or even a substitute. Since it was not on Linux box ITO installs it during the agent s/w distribution.

Any other gotcha's with managing Linux Redhat 7.1 nodes with ITO product?

Thanks in advance! - Jim

Re: Redhat 7.1 - rpcd daemon?

Hello,

I tried an eval version of Vantage Point software for Windows : it comes with rpcd and dced for Linux. Both daemons worked fine with SuSE Linux 7.2, glibc 2.2.2 (the same as for RedHat 7.1).

Good luck.
