Data protector can back up the filesystem. I don't think its explicitly on the support list as HP does extensive testing prior to doing this.

Reason being my GFS filesystem running on RedHat cluster is reporting I/O errors and saying super block error.
And backup team is saying GFS might not be supported on DATAPROTECTOR!
 
Cos nothing was backup other then /u001 file of 40KB.
My /u001 was having 100GB of data :(

Try running fsck or the gfs tool for fsck on the filesystem while umounted.
It may simply be an i/o problem with the disk.
