RedHat Version Installation

Hi Forum,

I got a few HP Proliant DL385 servers to install to satisfy my applicaton requirements as follow:

Middle Tier - 32 BIT OS
Database Tier - 64 Bit OS
AS Components - 32 Bit OS

From HP website, I am actually looking @ the following HP site for LINUX OS
supportability.

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert.html

Query: Correct me if i am wrong this is going to be my REDHAT EL AS4.0 OS to be installed

Middle Tier - 32 BIT OS => x86
Database Tier - 64 Bit OS => AMD86/EM64T
AS Components - 32 Bit OS => x86

Query: My understanding is that AMD86=EM64T which is actually x86_64 am I correct?

Thanks/cliff

Yes. If you want a true 64 bits os, you need to use Red Hat for Itanium on a rx server.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: RedHat Version Installation

You are correct.

You should get good interoperatbility with your setup. I think its smart to put the database tier in an environment where more memory can be addressed. It give syou more potential for growth.
