Regarding samba. problem

HI all,
In the smb.conf file i have mentioned subnet ipadd saparetly.Please find the details below...
smb.conf file...

#hosts allow = 161.85.22.0/23 161.85.21.0/23 161.85.20.0/23 161.85.98.0/24 161.8

hosts allow = 161.85.22. 161.85.21. 161.85.20. 161.85.98. 161.85.100. 161.85.101
. 161.85.30. 161.85.27. 161.85.26. 161.85.18.

other subnet users are not able to access this folders?.is there any otherway ?.

Actually I think the hosts allow statement you have commented is more standard, but the one you are using should work as well.

I think its testing time. See if it works the way the configuration file says it should work.

Yes, access folders are able just user, from allowed subnet... even if you are user with access to this system and you are trying from another subnet than is allowed, you will be not allow to access(hope it's clear.)

I don't know why the commented hosts allow doesn't work, maybe it's version dependent.(Who knows? Who cares if it works?)

What does "this folders" mean?
"hosts allow" restricts the samba client's IP range

What is not working?

does you Samba server work OK before you applyed access list?

can you send us the whole smb.conf?

Hi,

I have given host allow = 161.85.
Now it's working fine.
all the subnet user are able to access the folders.
