Sound problem with FC5...
Sound problem with FC5, sound card is sigmatel hda. Kernel version 2.6.17. I can hear sound when I plug my headphone jack in, but not through speaker. Any idea? Thanks.

Shalom,
Check inside the box that the cable is connected from the sound card to the cd if thats where you are plugging the headphone in.

Oh,
It's a laptop.
For goodness sake, don't open it.
Contact Dell support and work the problem through with them. You may find the machine does not support Linux.
I think however the diagnostic CD/DVD that came with the system should be used to boot it and run tests on the sound system. Dell will probably ask you to do that anyway.
If you have to contact Dell concerning a software issue contact their Linux department. The regular techs are quite clueless with Linux.
