regression testing script

Here is an old regression testing script( in perl ) we use for our application which was recently handed over to me . Could somebody provide a detailed overview of what its doing.

Personally, I find the words detailed and overview to be mutually exclusive.

I'll give a little summary.

It is a script designed to test oracle performance and stability.

It's kind of a hack, with colorful comments such as:
# Why do I force flushing here? It seemed to work before...

I got a laugh out of that.

It writes its findings to an output file.

In a sandbox system, I'd run some tests on this to see if its valid for your version of Oracle.

This was the overview part. The details will come from the real perl experts.
