Restore Qlogic fibre-channel configuration

I got two HBA QLA2312 on a Proliant connected to one XP12000.

I need to save the configuration of this HBA and be able to restore it in the case of a disaster and reinstallation of the system.

I can save the configuration with SANsurfer , but I can not find how to restore it.

Re: Restore Qlogic fibre-channel configuration

Shalom,

About all you can do is save /etc/modprobe.conf and any startup scripts in /etc/init.d

I'm not sure its going to work anyway. Each card has its own unique MAC type address called world wide name.

That fouls the restoration of the configuration to another machine. If you are preparing for disaster, what you need is step by step documentation on how to configure the card, update the card bios and such, because that is what you will need to do on a new server.

You can preserve the entire server configuration with one of the following products:

Norton Ghost

http://www.acronis.com

The latter two let you back up the system while its running.

Re: Restore Qlogic fibre-channel configuration

There really isn't much config to save on the HBA itself, other than negotiation, speed, ande HL-PA. Most of the configuration is going to be on the OS, the remote device, and any fiber switch you have set up (mostly WWN, zoning, and alias stuff).
