Re: RH 7.2
Hello Marcell,
I took a look at the HP supported products web site http://hp-linux.cern.ch/support/centp.php3 and acoording to a new posting, "The current HP Pavilions contain several components that are only supported under Windows 9x/NT/2000....For most Pavilions you will need the latest version of XFree86 (>= 3.3.6) to get the graphics going. " Check your version of XFree86 and make sure you have this version.
You can get XFree86 at http://www.xfree86.org/

Martin

Re: RH 7.2
Hi,
When you say X, do you mean the program X (The grey screen with the x cursor in the middle) or your X-windows (KDE, gnome, etc.)
If it is your X-windows, you might want to try running the program Xconfigurator from the root user command line. It will probe your graphics card and give you choices on how you would like to run it.
If you can't get X started. (You can run it manually on the command line by typing X) If the screen does not appear, it should give you a reason why.
(Two very common reasons are it doesn't recognize your keyboard or mouse and it will tell you this) If it does, you should be able to run Xconfigurator. (Break out of X by typing SHIFT-CNTL-Break)
Also, check with Red Hat to be sure your graphics card is supported. It should be, but there is always the possibility it's not. If this is the case, replace your card with a supported one and boot your system, it should find it and run Xconfigurator automatically.
Good Luck,
Kel
