RHEL 4 - Intel and Broadcom NICs in one bond?

We have a number of DL585G1 servers with three or four NC7170 dual-NICs (Intel). We can form a bond with up to 4 x 1Gb connections to our Cisco 6509 switch using 802.3ad. We cannot get the integrated Broadcom NIC to join the bond, is this a known restriction?

Shalom,

This is technically possible.

In practice for me it has proven unreliable. It makes /etc/modprobe.conf complex and the bond doesn't seem as reliable as with two like cards.

After a days experimentation a year ago, I decided against further experimentation.
