RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

I installed RHEL4 AS (well thats what says on packaging)on a HP Proliant DL380 G3 but when I excecute "cat /etc/redhat-release" I get the following output, ES rather than AS. Why is this. How do I change from ES to AS.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant)

if the content of this file doesn't changed by anyone, then the content you have seen is true.

your OS is ES not AS.check your installation CD/DVD's readme file.

Re: RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

Shalom,

You need to install AS to properly change this output.

Messing with the redhat-release file or other configuration files will not help and is a big time license violation.

Something in your install process failed.

I suggest a new cold install.

If in fact you have merely accidentally overwritten the /etc/redhat-release file then copy it from another AS system and you will be done.

Re: RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

Thanks for your responses.

When I did the install I did not notice any failures of any sort. The installation was a success. Am I missing something here. I will read the README files to make sure that it is RHEL4 AS. I'm new to Linux so pls bear with me. Is there any other info you need from me.

Re: RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

sounds like you got ES installed. Check the RPM's on your CD, specifically the redhat-release RPM. That is what provides /etc/redhat-release.

to confirm, what is the redhat-release package installed?
rpm -qa redhat-release
or
rpm -q --queryformat '%{VERSION}' redhat-release

Re: RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

Thanks. I realised I had installed the wrong RHEL4. I had 2 set of CDS one ES & one AS. AS now installed sucessfully.

Re: RHEL4 ES rather than RHEL4 AS

Just for your information, if you have 2 sets of CDs, only disc 1 is different.

Discs 2 to 5 are identical for both AS and ES.
