what the ethN? port# designation for the ASF and Admin RJ45 ports on the rear panel of the xw8600?

Hi,
ASF mean Alert Standard Format. It is an Industry-standard specification for network alerting in operating system-absent environments.
With it, you could monitor your workstation on a remote console like a gsp on hpux server.
