Safe uninstall of linux
Hi folks,
I have Win98, WinXP and Fedora core 3 installed on my hard disk. How can I remove/uninstall fedora safely without affecting other 2 OSes.

Re: Safe uninstall of linux
I assume you're booting with grub...
First you need to remove grub and replace it with the Windows XP MBR.
Boot off your XP CDROM and into the recovery console, then use the fixmbr command.
After a reboot you should not get grub and just the the XP boot menu. Then in Windows you can reformat the linux partition as windows.
If you want to use the Linux diskspace in your C: drive for example you will need to use partition magic to resize.

Re: Safe uninstall of linux
Use the Windows XP disk manager to format the disk or partition that Linux is on.
You need to however be careful you are not using grub as your boot manager.
You can use fdisk after the fact and change the system back over to windows.
Alternatively, just rm -r / on the Linux and you will have a quite useless Linux partition without bothering grub.
Or, do a Linux install into the Linux parition to simply wipe out all the paritions in there.
