Care to assign points and thank those who have helped you in the past so we don't feel like we're just getting used?

It's not very nice.

From the amount of posts you put in here, you obviously find this a good reference/help place. Show it.

Re: setup modem on linux server

There is a utility in Linux called kudzu.

It detects hardware at boot time and can probably be run at the command line.

It will detect and give you a chance to configure hardware at boot time.

If the hardware is not on the Linux supported hardware list, you'll have to go to the manufacturer's website for drivers and instructions. Winmodems generally won't work unless you install special drivers from http://linmodems.org or maybe .com I forget.

You may have noticed you get a lot of requests concerning points assingment.

Take a look at your past questions please, go through them and assign points to those who helped you.

Forums ettiquette.

In general, forums users who assign points regularly to reward effort get more suggestions and faster help. So assigning the points pays off for you as well. I know of answer givers who avoid your post due to your assignment batting average. Thats sad because it only delays you getting a solution. It doesn't take that long to fit in with the community. Please do so.

Also note there is a hardware explorer, built into Red Hat 8's graphical environment. This will let you check the install state of various hardware.

Regards and good luck,

I use webmin - ppp options , the below is the message :

The PPP server pppd installed on your system does not appear to be the Linux PPP daemon supported by this module.
