Re: setup proxy

What version of RH, and what version of 'up2date' (use 'rpm -q up2date' from a shell).

Re: setup proxy

Shalom,

In Red Hat 4 in X windows, there is a GUI tool for setting up proxy. Its really point and click and put in information provided by your networking product.

Ultimately it is the setting of an environment type thinks its not on a proxy, at least from the standpoint of the software.

It does kind of depend on your RH version though.

Re: setup proxy

Odd. Up2date is most happy in X.

That being said, if you've done 'up2date --configure', and set the proxy in there (and it doesn't work), and/or you've tried 'up2date --proxy ', then try 'env http_proxy= up2date ' (yes, case sensitive) instead.

Re: setup proxy

.. Oh, I also suggest you upgrade to a newer version of RedHat or Fedora, as RH8 is no longer supported by RH, and I'm not really aware of any legacy groups supporting it either.
