Solution
Samba can do both.
I'm attaching a sample samba conf file that shows how to open up a Linux/HP-UX client to shared access.
You can set up samba to validate users in Linux/Unix via a Windows Primary Domain Controller.
This is an HP-UX doc but its perfectly applicable to Linux.
Client Setup
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/B8724-90044_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/00/00/17-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/00/00/17-toc.html&searchterms=Client%7cConfiguration%7cSamba&queryid=20031113-142122
PDC integration
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8725-90053/B8725-90053_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8725-90053/00/00/35-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8725-90053/00/00/35-toc.html&searchterms=Windows%7cPDC%7cCIFS&queryid=20031113-142236
Again HP-UX but the docu works perfectly in Linux.
Regards and good luck,
SEP

Re: shared files Windows2000 - Linux
Ruiz,
I have joined theses two links
http://www.redhat.com/mirrors/LDP/
this is one of the best place for docs and infos this is specialy interesting because many of theses are translated into many languages
from there do a search on samba into search field this will find lot of good/usefull documentation and info
the other link is www.samba.org there you will find lots of mirrors (1 in Mexico) with all of samba official info
I am that this plus SEP examples you should be all set to start.
