SNMP - ucd or net
Hi,
We're deploying RedHat 8 onto BL20p blades using RDP. We upgraded the deployment server and installed the new support pack onto our NFS server. This contained an ss.640 (smart start 6.4?) directory with subdirs for each distribution, where before we had a ss.620 directory. Fine so far. However, in ss.620/rh80/csp is the net-snmp-5.0.1-6cmaX.4.i386.rpm package, and the rh80.sh script tries to install net-snmp-[0-9]*.i386.rpm which works fine. However, ss.640/rh80/csp contains ucd-snmp-4.2.5-7cmaX.76.Redhat8_0.i386.rpm, but the rh80.sh script still tries to install net-snmp like in ss.620.
The only documentation I've been able to find (about installing the Proliant management software) indicates that the preferred package is the one from UC-davis. I know that net-snmp is just a rebadged and slightly upgraded ucd-snmp but the documentation doesn't indicate whether it really means net-snmp or if they are strongly encouraging the older ucd-snmp.
The situation in the ss.640 directory simply adds to my confusion - did they mean to change back to ucd-snmp but didn't change the script, or did they simply put the wrong rpm in the directory?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Craig
