Hi,
My server runs RedHat 7.0 and have the following messages shown up in /var/log/messages.
Aug 28 09:59:18 oradb1 rhnsd[1973]: running program /usr/sbin/rhn_check
Aug 28 09:59:21 oradb1 rhnsd[947]: command returned: ERROR: unable to read system id.
Does anyone know about this ?
Regards,
Patrick

Solution
It appears as if the RedHat Network Daemon cannot find your system registration on the system.
Have you signed up to the RedHat Network? Do you use the 'up2date' utility?
If you don't want to get automatic notifications about updates, then you might just want to disable the daemon (chkconfig rhnsd off, service rhnsd stop).
If you do want to use it, then you should run 'rhn_register', and follow the questions/adivce.

One long-haired git at your service...
