Squid configuration to restrict user to open public IP

Dear All,

Currently I am using Fedora Core 6 with firestarter firewall as a gateway to our local LAN users.

I want to restrict our LAN users to open few Public IP (Like www.xyz.com) .Thatwhy I want my gateway machine also act as a proxy.

Is it possible to run Squid on above machine which is already working as a gateway with firestarter package. Because I am not well aware with IPTABLES.

Plz suggest me what should I do and also give me link for same if there for squid configuration.

Thanks in Advanced!!!!

Re: Squid configuration to restrict user to open public IP

Shalom,

Sorry squid is not the tool for this job.

If the job is to control the IP's being used by your Internet users.

If you job is to restrict access to certain web sites, its the perfect tool.

Quid site blocking techniques.

Re: Squid configuration to restrict user to open public IP

Hello,

Web site access can be restricted through SquidAcl or SquidGuard. SquidAcl is an internal mechanism, whereas SquidGuard is an add-on.
