ssh to iLo interface gets ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

Hi,

Why am I getting 'ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host' errors when I try to ssh to some of my iLo interfaces?

What can I do about it?

I understand 'iLo interfaces' are are for remote management and they dont support ssh connection request. You have to try telnet and check,

Depending on the version of iLO hardware and firmware, iLO may or may not support SSH. With some versions, SSH support requires an "iLO Advanced" license code.

In general, iLO2 hardware tends to have the support, but you may have to enable it in the HTTPS web GUI of the iLO first.
